Ageratum Seed germination and cultural information.

Plant type: Annual

Uses: Pack or pot plants, suitable for borders and beds

Plant Height: 15 – 20 cm

Sowing: January through to May  20 – 25 ºC

Cover with a thin layer of fine Vermiculite

Germination in 1 – 2 weeks

Approximate crop timing (mid season):

Sowing to transplanting 2 - 3 weeks

Sowing to flowering 11 -12 weeks

Seedling to flowering 10 weeks

 

Growing on:

Temperature 15 – 18 ºC

pH 5.8 – 6.5

Feeding Balanced N:P:K fertiliser as needed

Growth regulation Plants will respond to Daminozide,(Dazide, B-Nine) Generally applied at the 4 true leaf stage. Repeating 14 – 21 days later.

Pack/Pot size 9 - 10 cm pot or six pack

Planting out spacing 15 – 20 cm

Advice Allow to dry slightly between waterings without wilting. Water early in the morning to allow foliage to dry before nightfall.

Common diseases Pythium and Fusarium cause root rot diseases which also show up as leaf tip burn. Botrytis particularly affecting flowers.

Powdery Mildew.

Common pests Whitefly, Aphids, Red Spider Mite
