Cress

Sow all year Harvest 7-10 days after sowing for sprouts
For continuous sowing. A salad vegetable for the window sill or garden. Indoors can be sown in compost in small punnets, on soaked tissue paper or on a saucer being kept wet at all times, do not pre-soak seeds. Outdoors may be broadcast in small blocks direct into the soil.

Cress American or Land
Barbarea verna
Young leaves used cooked, as seasoning or raw. Having a hot spicy flavour they are a useful addition to salads, the land grown alternative to water cress being similar in taste. The seed can be sprouted. Can be cropped all year if autumn sowings are given protection through winter (cloches). Sow Spring to September in situ , successional sowings for continual cropping, position full sun for winter crops while partial shade is best for summer crops.

The cultural information should be used as a guide only, I have found a number of different sowing techniques for the same seed from different sources there does not seem to be a standard. With this in mind you should use this website as a guide only, you probably already have a tried and tested way of sowing different seeds. As a rule of thumb the larger the seed size the more cover it requires, and fine seed like Lobelia Begonia etc requires no cover.
